13 schools, 2 universities, 1 drama theater, 10 private companies, 1 kindergarten, and 1 rehabilitation center joined UkrSibbank BNP Paribas Group, which initiated the campaign. The organizers supplied these establishments with project materials, as well as held mini-lectures highlighting the needs of Down’s syndrome children. Everybody seeks to contribute as much as they can: some install boxes for donations, others (like students of specialized IT school No. 61, Kyiv) collect waste paper to have it recycled and get the money for the project. Special boxes are installed in branches of the bank all over Ukraine to collect money for special training programs aimed to teach Down’s syndrome kids to speak and read. Every client will have a chance to contribute and donate any amount, even a small one by either putting the banknotes or coins into the boxes by 1 July or transferring money to UDSO account. All the raised funds are transferred to UDSO weekly. “Just like other little Ukrainian s our kids have a right to education, though we need  special methods for this purpose. Regrettably, teachers at schools and kinder gardens don’t know how to teach children with Down’s syndrome to speak and read and neither do their parents. At the same time, lots of programs are developed all over the world to help our children speak and read well”, says Sergiy Kuriyanov, President of Ukrainian Down Syndrome Organization and father of little Illya, aged 7, with Down’s syndrome. “Woefully, our country cannot boast of programs like that. Therefore, being a social parental organization, we decided to take on this challenge”. “It’s highly paramount to start individual work with such children from their very first days, long before their peers first see ABC books. This is the only way to help children suffering from Down’s syndrome study, master a profession and get a job”, says Tetyana Mykhailenko, Head of Early Learning and Development Center, UDSO.
