I am proud to join our downtown businesses, arts organizations, restaurants and clubs in welcoming you to the Third annual Downtown Berkeley Jazz Festival.

You are in for a real treat. This festival features some of the most innovative and amazing jazz, poetry, dance and film performers in the Bay Area and beyond.

While you are here enjoying the music scene, I invite you to take in all that Berkeley has to offer. Downtown Berkeley is enjoying an arts and entertainment renaissance. Our internationally acclaimed Downtown Arts District – a product of a public/private partnership between the City of Berkeley and dedicated members of the arts community—features public artwork, award winning theaters, great music, and some of the best food in the country.

Of course, Berkeley has more than its downtown. Down the street you will find a wealth of other treasures, including the international marketplace on University Avenue, the budding arts district in South Berkeley, the lively shopping district on Fourth Street, and the incomparable University of California.

The third Downtown Berkeley Jazz Festival is one of many wonderful additions to our arts community and reinforces Berkeley’s reputation for a lively and creative arts and entertainment scene. Thank you for joining me as we celebrate music and the arts in Berkeley.
